India – Part II

Hope you enjoyed reading India – Part I.

My parents live in India; Kolkata precisely. They live in a 3-storied house with a beautiful garden. Mom and dad love gardening so they bought some extra land in front of our house. These are photos from their garden. As you can see, they grow flowers, vegetables, greens with immense pleasure.

And from my DSLR

Anyhow, this is nothing but an earthen oven where we use charcoal or wood. Mom owns two of them and she is planning (Matthew does not know yet) to bring one here. They are quite useful for grilling and barbecue but mom always used them for cooking. When I was young we used to host festival (Puja) at home and she used these ovens as extra burners.  oven flatbread When we were there mom cooked constantly for 2 weeks. As it was not my studio, I could not photograph much. However, I caught her dumpling (Pithe) making in action. flat-bread-preparation frying-dumplings Last, two more pictures from the local market!  street-vendor fresh-chicken

With this post, my India diary ends. Why these posts are so small ?

Well, I only go there for 2 weeks (13 days) and I see my folks in every 2 years. So I like to spend time with them discussing the problems they are facing more than clicking. I enjoy mom’s food when she serves and they look so good I forget to click. Mom pampers me with head massage, pedicure, manicure and what not. I relax there. And you see this is why I don’t snap everything I see.

But I shop for props there and it’s not easy to shop in India. In one of the post (in future), I am going to write about prop shopping in India. So, stay tuned!
