Shrimpiously Good

No matter if you are a Bengali or an American – I am sure you do love Shrimp. Did this happen to you ever – that you travelled the weekend and came back home on Sunday? You could not cook anything over the weekend. When you get out of work at 6 pm on Monday, I am sure, you are thinking -“what can I make today under 30 minutes?”.

I was enjoying the spring time with my hub-dear at cape this weekend. When I got out of office today(Monday), I did not have any energy to cook a meal, so I made this super simple shrimp curry.

You can make this very quickly(under 30 minutes) and enjoy with hot rice. You can get fresh or frozen shrimp for this. I use uncooked and clean frozen shrimp because it’s easy to use. If you use raw shrimp, you need to devein it. You can use store bought mustard powder, but I dry grind it.

Recipe for Shrimp in spicy mustard sauce

  1. So simple that anyone can make it.
  2. Wash the shrimp very well under warm water. You don’t need to thaw the frozen shrimp. Washing it under hot water will work. After washing, take the skin off from your shrimp.
  3. After it’s done – add turmeric and chili powder to it and keep it aside.
  4. Dry grind the mustard to powder. Then wet grind it with shredded coconut and green chillies. Add some water to it – to make a paste.
  5. Add 1 tbsp oil to a pan and add the turmeric chili marinated shrimp to it. Add some salt to it and fry for 2-3 mins at medium temperature. Don’t over fry it because shrimp will get very chewy.
  6. After 3 mins, close the flame and pour the shrimp in a microwave cookware. Add the mustard paste to it. You won’t need any more oil – if you need you can add 1 tsp mustard on top.
  7. Microwave for 5 minutes – and you are ready to enjoy your dinner.
